Priyanka Chopra is heating up the scene in Hollywood with her remarkable performances. But that doesn’t mean that she’s ignoring Bollywood. She is all set to venture into history with a bilingual Bengali-Marathi film based on the life of celebrated Bengali Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. But it will be about his love story.

Stories regarding Tagore’s personal life were written or being told by the poet himself in his creations. Some were told by his nearest ones. This story is something like that.

The film will narrate the story of 17-year-old Rabindranath Tagore who was living with Dr Atmaram Pandurang Turkhud at his house in Mumbai. While staying there, the teenage Tagore fell in love with the doctor’s 20-year-old daughter, Annapurna. She had just returned from England and since she was conversant in English etiquette and the language, she became his tutor.

As the classes progressed, an intimacy developed between the teacher and her young student. On Annapurna’s insistence, he gave her the name Nalini, and immortalised her in a poem he wrote for her and set to music too. However, Tagore’s father did not approve of his lady love and the liaison ended. In 1880, Annapurna married a Scot, Harold Littledale, and the couple left for England.
