After infighting, BCL activist shot dead in classroom

An activist of the ruling party’s student front was shot dead inside a classroom following a clash of rival groups of the Bangladesh Chhatra League in Sylhet today.

Khaled Ahmad, 23, was inside a classroom of Beanibazar Government College when unidentified youths stormed in and shot him, our local correspondent reports.

The incident took place around 12:30pm, an hour after a factional clash of the Chhatra League in Beanibazar College, said Sugyan Chakma, additional police superintendent of Sylhet.

Police recovered the body and detained three persons from the shooting spot, he added.

The clash took place around 11:00am in the college compounds between two local Chhatra League groups — Pavel group and Pallab group, witnesses and sources say.

The victim, who was an outsider in the college, said to have taken part in the clash. The victim was said to have been an activist of the Pavel group.

The body was kept a local hospital. No case was filed in this regard, last reported.
