Published on: 5:30 pm - Saturday | February 3, 2018

Finance Minister AMA Muhit blamed the banks and the government as well for the increase in default loans.

The minister made the comments at an annual program of Sonali Bank today (Saturday).

The minister pointed out that the rise in default loans is a result of not following designated procedures and not assessing clients clients properly.

Muhit admitted that the government sometimes influences banks to issue loans for projects even if the bank feels that the project is not viable. He said that an effort is being made to stop this happening. He also said that loopholes in banking laws and procedures will soon be sorted out.
