Dhaka Attack sets new record

Dhaka Attack, the blockbuster film by Dipankar Dipon is now a new record holder of being the longest running film in the history of Bangladesh. The film is running both locally and overseas for 154 days straight on March 10.

“The film is still running since its release. Although it was not screening in Bangladesh for a week, it was running in US,” said the film’s director. “It became possible for the love of the audience,” he added.

The first cop-action thriller film is still running at theater including Shahin (Dhaka), Chompakoli (Tongi), Banani (Kushtia), Shapla (Rangpur) and Raj (Kuliarchar). The story of Dhaka Attack centers on the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Elite Forces’ fierce operation against a terrorist organization, the attack is part of a plot by few foreign intelligence agencies to destabilize the country, in order to destroy the country’s defense layers.

The film features a total 238 characters in the film. With Arifin Shuvo and Mahiya Mahi in the lead, the film stars some heavyweight cast including Syed Hasan Imam, Alamgir, Afzal Hossain, Laila Hasan, ABM Suman, Shatabdi Wadud and Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed.

Shuvo plays in the character of Assistant deputy commissioner of DMP Detective Branch, and in-charge of Bomb Disposal Unit while Mahi is seen as a crime journalist. Recently, the director also announced a sequel of the film. The title of the film varies from Dhaka Attack Extreme to Dhaka Attack: Two.
