Mousumi’s silver jubilee on silver screen

March 25, 1993, Thursday was a day of Eid-ul-Fitr. The viewers for the very first time watched today’s lustrous film actress Mousumi on the silver screen. Her debut film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’, one of the most notable films in the Dhallywood film industry till today, was released in countrywide cinemas on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr in that year.

Today marks the silver jubilee of Mousumi’s film career. At the same time, her debut film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ also completes 25 years of its release.

Starring opposite the late iconic actor Salman Shah, Mosumi embarked on the journey of acting and stardom with the film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’. Produced by Sirajul Islam and Sukumar Rajan Ghosh, the film was directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan under the banner of Anondomela Cinema Limited.

With her brilliant performance and dazzling avatar, Mousumi did not just win the National Film Award three times, but also she made an adoring space for herself in the hearts of viewers with a number of films.

Mousumi expressed her feelings about her journey of 25 years on the silver screen, “I can’t even figure out how so many years have passed in a blink of an eye. I am missing my father very much today. I am also missing Salman Shan, the hero of my first film and also recalling actor Manna.”

“I am grateful to photographer Chanchal Mahmud who first saw me through the lens of his camera. I also express my gratitude to Rafiqur Rahman Requ for his contribution to my early career. I am thankful to Cassandra Limited’s chairman Shakib Lohani, director  Sohanur Rahman Sohan. I am indebted to the directors who helped me obtain the National Film Awards with their films”, she added.

Besides, Mousumi also thankful to her family, her children and her husband Omar Sani for being there in ups and downs in her journey.

To celebrate the silver jubilee, Mosumi Fan Club has arranged a programme for Mosumi and Salman Shah, where actor Omar Sani will be present as the special guest.

Currently, Mosumi is busy with Uttam Akash’s film ‘Chittagainga Poya Noakhailla Maiya’ and Ispahani Arif Jahan’s film ‘Nayok’.
