2 to die in RU Prof Rezaul murder case

A court in Rajshahi convicted two people and sentenced them to death in Rajshahi University teacher Prof Rezaul Karim Siddiquee murder case.
The court also sentenced three people to life term imprisonment in the case.

Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Shirin Kabita Akhter handed down the verdict.

The condemned convicts are Shariful Islam and Maskawat Hasan alias Abdullah while the lifers are Rahmat Ullah, Abdus Sattar and his son Ripon Ali.

Prof Rezaul Karim, 58, of RU English Department, was hacked and slaughtered by miscreants in Shalbagan area in Rajshahi city on April 23, 2011, while he was waiting for university bus.

Later, the victim’s son Riasat Imtiaz Shourav filed a murder case with Boalia Police Station.
