4 JMB women jailed for five years

A court in Sirajganj on Sunday sentenced four female members of banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) man to five years in a case lodged under Explosive Substances Act.


The convicts are Tabassum Rani, 30, of Sirajganj, Habiba Akter Mishu, 18, of Bogura, Rumana Begum, 19, of Gaibandha, and Rumana Akter Ruma, 21, of Bogura district.
District and Sessions Judge Court Public Prosecutor Abdur Rahman Abdul Latif Sarker confirmed the matter.
According to prosecution, detective branch (DB) of police arrested the four female members of JMB along with crude bombs, huge jihadi (religious uprising) books and bomb-making materials from Masumpur area in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj on July 23 in 2016.
Later, police filed case against them with Sirajganj Police Station under section 8, 9, 10 and 13 under Explosive Substances Act.

After examining the records and witnesses, Sirajganj District and Sessions Judge Begum Fahmida Kader handed down the verdict.
