9 more killed in 7 dists

Nine drug peddlers of seven districts were killed in countrywide ‘gunfights’ with law enforcers, as anti-narcotics drives continue.

Of them, 2 in Cumilla, 2 in Dinajpur, 1 in Joypurhat, 1 Chandpur, 1 in Mymensingh, 1 in Pabna, and 1 in Thakurgaon, were killed from 12 am to now on Saturday (May 26).

In Cumilla, two suspected drug dealers were killed, around 2 am, in a reported gunfight with police in Bagra area of Brahmanpara upazila.

The deceased, Babul, 40, hailed from Ashabri area and Almas, 35, hailed from Tetebhumi area, were from the same upazila.

At that time, 40 kg hemp, one round bullet, and a foreign pistol were seized from the spot.
