Police obstruct procession at DU, lob tear shells

Police obstructed a procession of Dhaka University students at Shahbagh in the city on Monday afternoon.

The law enforcers used water cannon and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the students.

They also detained four processionists from the scene.

Witnesses said cops halted a procession of some 300-400 students, under the banner “Dhaka University Students’, while heading towards Shahbagh from campus at about 3pm.

They used water cannon, lobbed tear gas shells and charged batons on the students to disperse them.

Police took position at Shahbagh intersection since morning.
