Journos give 72-hr ultimatum to arrest attackers

Journalists from different media houses have demanded immediate arrest of those attacked some of their colleagues while covering the ongoing student movement seeking safe roads.

The demand came from a human chain at SARRC Fountain in Karwan Bazar area on Tuesday morning protesting attacks on media persons.

They also warned to launch tougher programmes if the government fails to arrest the attackers within the next 72 hours.

Demanding the arrest by analysing video footages, the journalists said, “It’s not difficult to arrest the attackers as there are video footages, reports UNB.

At least seven photojournalists were injured in attacks by unruly youths in the capital’s Jigatala and Science Laboratory areas on Sunday while taking snaps of an attack on protesting students.

The injured were identified as AM Ahad of international news agency the Associated Press (AP), Zawad of the Daily Janakantha, Palash of the Banik Barta, Rimon of US-based Zuma Press, Sharif of the Dainik Naya Diganta, freelancer Rahat and Enamul Hasan, a photography student of Pathsala South Asian Media Institute.
