Bus-microbus collision: Death toll rises to 7

The death toll from the collision between a bus and a microbus in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi on Tuesday morning rose to seven.

Shibpur Model Police Station OC Abul Kalam Azad said a Sylhet-bound bus of ‘Mitali Paribahan’ collided head-on with a microbus, carrying a bridal party, in Sonaimuri area at about 7am, leaving two children dead on the scene and some others injured.

The wounded were admitted to a local hospital where two succumbed to their injuries. Later, critically injured microbus passengers were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where three other died.

Six of the dead were identified as Snigdha Barman, 4, Sajal Barman, 22, Prantik Barman, 4, Saurav Barman, 12, and Shuvo, 30. Another one was a cameraman.
Condition of groom who has been admitted to the DMCH with injuries is stated to be critical.
Tragedy struck down the bridal party while returning home with the bride after finishing marriage rituals, the OC said.
