Airport road crash: charges pressed against 6

Detective Branch (DB) of police submitted the charge-sheet before court accusing six people including the two bus drivers of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan in a case filed over the death of the two students on city’s Airport Road.

DB police inspector Kazi Shariful Islam submitted the charge-sheet before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka under section 304, 279 and 34 of the Penal Code on Thursday (September 6).

Under section 304, maximum penalty is life term imprisonment. The charge-sheet has been submitted after investigation within one month into the incident.

The accused are: bus driver Masum Billah, driver’s assistant Enayet Hossain and bus owner Shahadat Hossain of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan. Also, bus driver Jobayer Sumon and driver’s assistant Qazi Asad and bus owner Jahangir Alam of the bus that competed with Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus on that day.

On July 29, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed as a bus of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan ran them on Airport road.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Karim, 16 and Diya Khanom Mim, 15. Several other students were injured in the incident.
