‘JMB leader’ killed in gun-battle

A suspected leader of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh was killed in a ‘shootout’ with policemen in Shibganj upazila of Bogura early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Khorshed Alam alias Shamim, 38, former ameer of the banned militant outfit.

After the gunfight, police found bullet-hit body of Khorshed and rushed him to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead, Sanatan Chakraborty, additional superintendent of Bogra police

Two firearms and three bullets were recovered from the spot, the ASP said.
