Dialogue ends, polls procedures to continue: Quader

Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the election process will continue along with discussion but the dialogue has come to an end.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks to reporters after ending the second phase dialogue with Oikyafront at Ganabhaban on Wednesday noon (Nov 7).

He said, “We have no objection accepting their demands like creating level playing field for election and releasing their detained party leaders and activists. Moreover, our ministers and lawmakers will not use any government facilities, power and also flag-carrying government vehicles. They will get similar facilities as other party candidates and nothing more.”

However, Oikyafront’s demand on deploying army with magistracy power is not acceptable. No other countries in the world do it. Army will be ready as a striking force during polls, he added.
