2,200 BNP men arrested in 72 hrs, BNP claims

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday claimed that nearly 2,200 leaders and activists of his party have been arrested in last 72 hours, despite Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s assurance of not making any political arrest.
“During the meeting with jatiya Oikyafront, the Prime Minister assured that no more arrest of political leaders and activists will be made. But some 2,200 BNP men were arrested across the country in last 72 hours centering the Oikyafront’s Tuesday’s rally,” he said at a press briefing held at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

In the briefing, Rizvi condemned the arrest .

He also alleged that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been sent to jail defying court order and recommendations by the medical board.
