Home minister for action against those involved in Ijtema feud

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said the government would take action against those involved in the recent feud on Tongi Biswa Ijtema ground.

“The Biswa Ijtema will be held after the national elections. The people of the country are now waiting for the polls,” he told newsmen while visiting the Ijtema ground and exchanging views with senior Tabligh Jamaat personnel at Tongi.

The minister said Muslim devotees use to gather on Tongi Ijtema ground for performing religion and ibadat. He said, “A group of people entered into the Ijtema ground forcibly recently and created trouble. They resorted to vandalism and wounded many others,” Asaduzzaman said.

Three separate cases were filed with court and police station in this connection.

During the view exchange, local lawmaker Zahid Ahsan Russel, Gazipur City Mayor Jahangir Alam, Inspector General of Police Dr Javed Patwari, Gazipur Metropolitan Commissioner WM Belalur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Dr Dewan Muhammad Humaiun Kabir and local Awami League leaders were present. (BSS)
