Mushfiqur Rahim starred for Bangladesh as he hammered 83 runs to help Bangladesh reach 262/7 in 50 overs at The Rose Bowl in Southampton in World Cup 2019 league stage match on Monday.
Mujeeb ur Rahman starred for Afganistan with the ball as he picked three wickets in the match, with Soumya Sarkar, Shakib al Hasan and Liton Das being his victims.
Mushfiqur played a gem of a knock, powering Bangladesh cross 250-run mark. He showed glimpse of his ability of playing spin on such a surface and battled till the end before he found Nabi with a skier. His 87-ball 83-run knock was laced with four boundaries and a six.
NDTV adds: Shakib was yet again remarkable. He reclaimed top spot on the World Cup 2019 leading run-scorers list with a fine 69-ball 51-run inning. His sensible inning came after Bangladesh suffered an early blow in the form of Liton Das.
Mosaddek Hossain too showed some hands, scoring a quick-fire 24-ball 35-run knock before being bowled out on the last ball of Bangladesh’s inning. Be it carrom ball, googly or off-break, Mujeeb had everything in his armoury.  He was the leading wicket-taker for Afghanistan and ended with superb figures of 3/39 in his 10 overs.
Skipper Gulbadin Nain also claimed two wickets while Dawlat Zadran and Mohammad Nabi picked one-wicket each. A few misfields and occasional overthrows also added to Bangladesh’s total. (observer)
