ACC sues DIG Mizan, 3 others

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mizanur Rahman and three of his family members for accumulating illegal wealth and concealing information of wealth worth Tk 3.07 crore.

ACC director Manjur Morshed filed the case on Monday.

The other accused are:DIG Mizan’s wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, nephew sub-inspector Mahmudul Hasan and younger brother Mahbubur Rahman.

ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed media about the matter.The ACC grilled the police official on May 3, 2018 about his illegal wealth.

Earlier on June 19, a Dhaka court asked the authorities concerned to confiscate assets and freeze bank accounts of Mizanur Rahman.

According to the case statement, the ACC found that DIG Mizan accumulated wealth worth Tk 3.28 crore while he concealed information of wealth worth Tk 3.07 crore in his wealth statement.
