Three Bangladeshi films will be screened at the Jaffna Cinema Festival this year. The films are, Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale, a feature length biopic by Piplu Khan, Iti Tomari Dhaka, an anthology film by Impress Telefilm and Heroine’s One Night, a short film a Tasmiah Afrin Mou. The festival will take place from September 3-9.

Jaffna Cinema Festival explores contemporary forms of cinematic expression. It promotes young film-makers by showcasing their debut films and short films. On the fifth edition of this festival, the films will be screened at Jaffna University, British Council, American Corner and Majestic Cineplex.

The festival invites the directors of the chosen films to visit Sri Lanka. However, Tasmiah informed the Dhaka Tribune Showtime that she will not be able to attend the event, due to a pre-determined shooting schedule.

Heroine’s One Night deals with the anxiety actors have about maintaining their good looks, while Iti Tomari Dhaka explores how Dhaka impacts the lives of its inhabitants through 11 short films from 11 emerging film-makers.
