Action against owners if workers not paid by Apr 16

State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian has warned the garment owners of taking legal action if fail to pay the workers salaries within April 16.

Giving directives to the factory owners to pay the workers’ salaries for the month of March by April 16, she said, “Legal action will be taken against those violate the instruction,” said a statement of  Labour and Employment issued on Monday.

The government has extended the  general holiday in three phases till April 25 to prevent the transmission of deadly coronavirus.

The government also asked all to remain inside home.

Earlier, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi also urged the garment owners to pay the workers salaries by April 16 and not  to terminate them.
