Coronavirus has already spread through community transmission in the country, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque urging all to remain alert so that it cannot spread further.

“The main tool to tackle coronavirus is staying at home and testing. Those  identified as transmitter of the disease will be kept at isolation so that they can’t infect any other person,” he said after joining onlinr the regular bulletin of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Monday.

Narayanganj, Mirpur, Basabo and some other areas have been identified as the most infection-prone zones for the novel coronavirus, said the minister adding that those left these places for different districts have spread the virus.

“We should be more strict as people are not following the lockdown rules and roaming around the roads without any reason,” he said.

He informed that 17 more institutions are doing coronaviruss tests while the government has taken initiative to bring 400-500 more ventilators and oxigenerators of the same quantum.

The minister said that three isolation centres and field hospitals are being set up at Bashundhara International Convention Centre, DNCC market and at four multi-storied buildings in Diabari.
