Moyur-2 staff Salam remanded

A Dhaka court has placed a staff of Moyur-2 launch on a three-day remand in  case filed over a launch capsize in the Buriganga River on June 29.

Dhaka senior Chief Judicial Magistrate Mishkat Shukrana passed the remand order on Tuesday.

Earlier,River police sub-inspector Shhidul Islam, also the IO of the case, produced Salam before the court seeking five days’ remand for him.

River Police arrested Abdus Salam from Lalkuthi ghat under Sutrapur Police Station in the morning.

Munshiganj-bound launch ‘Morning Bird’ with over 100 passengers on board capsized in the river Buriganga at Sadarghat after being hit by another vessel ‘Moyur-2’ around 9:33am on June 29.

The next day, naval police SI Shamsul Alam lodged a case with Keraniganj Police Station accusing seven persons.

The accused are: Moyur-2 launch owner Mosaddek Hanif Swad, master Abul Bashar, master Zakir Hossain and staff Shipon Howladar, Shakil Hossain, Hridoy and sukani Nasir. Five to six unidentified persons were also made accused in the case.
