Bangladesh’s virus death toll hits 3,000

Thirty-five more people have died of COVID-19 in Bangladesh, pushing the total number to 3,000.

The infection cases reached 2,29,185 as 2,960 positive cases were found in last 24 hours.

As many as 12,714 tests were conducted at 81 labs. Total 11,37,131 samples have been tested till Tuesday afternoon.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), confirmed the figure at the daily health bulletin this afternoon.

Some 1,731 more corona patients died in the past 24 hours, taking the total recovery number to 1,27,414.

The death rate now stands at 1.31 per cent and the infection rate at 23.28 per cent.

Globally, over 16.49 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 654,327 have died.
