Seventy-three leaders and activists of BNP have, so far, died of coronavirus and 284 more are infected.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the information in a virtual press conference of the party’s central coronavirus cell on Thursday.

Criticising the government, Fakhrul alleged the government could not show its responsibility in the pandemic situation.

Replying to a question, he said,”The Chinese medical experts have told Bangladesh lacks preparation to tackle the COVID situation. The government is lying to hide its failure.”

It is now proves that the healthcare system has broke down, he said adding that people could not get test, they are roaming around streets.

Informing that some 200 prisoners have been infected in different jails, the BNP leader said,”We’ve demanded elderly prisoners’ release who were detained in false political cases.”
